COLORADO RIVER HISTORICAL SOCIETY AND MUSEUM

The museum includes replicas of area landmarks and historical displays. Also on display are items from early settlers to the first slot machines. The museum is located in the Davis Camp area on the Arizona side of the Colorado River north of the Laughlin Bridge (under 1 mile) on Highway 95.

DAVIS DAM

The dam is located in Pyramid Canyon just north of Laughlin and was named in 1941 for then-Director of Reclamation, Arthur Powell Davis. The $67 million earth and rock filled embankment along the Colorado River has a concrete spillway, intake structure, and power plant. The structure is 200 ft. high and was completed in 1953 to control flash floods and to generate hydroelectric energy. A rock formation resembling a bull's head was located behind the present dam and was flooded by the waters of the Lake Mohave when the project was completed. The construction town below the dam was named Bullhead City in honor of this formation.

GRAND CANYON CAVERNS

The Caverns are located 190 miles from the casino on historic Route 66 between Kingman and Seligman, Arizona. The guided tour takes visitors on an elevator lowering them 21 stories to view these natural limestone caverns. A restaurant and gift shop can be found at the cave entrance.

KATHERINE’S LANDING

Complete lakeside resort area with marina, sandy beach area where you can picnic and barbecue. Campground spots with and without RV hook-ups are available. There is also a motel, boat storage yard, boat repair shop, store, restaurant, and lounge. Nature hikes and ranger interpretive programs are held fall through spring.

KATHERINE MINE

A once booming late 19th Century gold mine, the ruins are located near the Katherine Landing area along a ridge running east of the turn-off to the Telephone Cove area. The Katherine Mine is only one of many such mines dotting the area.

LAKE HAVASU, LONDON BRIDGE AND ENGLISH VILLAGE

The lake is 45 miles long and can be traveled by most types of watercraft (e.g., tour boats, jet skis, WaveRunners). The London Bridge spanned the Thames River in the U.K. for about 80 years before being dismantled and brought to Havasu, piece by piece, in 1964. The charming English Village surrounding the London Bridge is filled with shops and restaurants.
